Here to Help You Feel at Ease

At Grand West Dental, we care deeply about creating a positive patient experience for all dental procedures, from general dentistry to restorative care. We understand that some people feel nervous about going to the dentist, and we are here to help.

If you’ve ever felt nervous, anxious, or uneasy before a dental procedure, you’re not alone. With sedation dentistry, we can help you remain calm and relaxed during your treatment or procedure. Sedation dentistry can be helpful for kids and adults who experience dental anxiety.

If this is something you feel is necessary for you, book an appointment with us for a consultation.

Types of Sedation We Offer

Oral: With oral sedation, a pill is given to you an hour before your procedure. You may feel groggy or sleepy during your procedure.

Nitrous oxide (laughing gas): This form of sedation is given through a mask. The effects set in a few minutes after breathing the gas in.

Hospital sedation: This is delivered directly into your bloodstream through an IV line. Your heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen levels are monitored throughout the procedure. A specific consultation is needed for hospital sedation.

When Is Sedation Necessary?

Sedation dentistry can be a great option for patients with dental anxiety. We may also recommend sedation for specific restorative dentistry procedures, oral surgery, and extractions. These procedures may cause feelings of discomfort, but with adequate sedation you can feel more relaxed and at ease.

We will get to know you and understand your needs before arriving at a suitable sedation option for you.

With different options available for adults and kids, the type of sedation patients receive can depend on a few factors, including your personal health and the type of procedure you’re undergoing.

Consultations for Hospital Sedation

Hospital sedation—also known as sleep dentistry or IV sedation—is the deepest type of sedation we help our patients access. Before receiving this type of sedation, we will have a consultation with you to determine if you’re eligible.

This type of sedation is typically reserved for patients who have severe dental anxiety or are having long procedures. This typically isn’t the first resort for patients who have less anxiety or are undergoing shorter, more straightforward procedures.

Prioritizing Your Safety & Comfort

You’re not wrong for feeling anxious about a dental procedure, and we’re not here to add extra stress. Your safety and comfort during dental procedures is our priority, which is why we offer a variety of options for sedation dentistry.
